Gotta love that kind of smile — that amazing feel-like-a-kid-again, got-a-shiny-red-bicycle-for-Christmas, reading-a-book-I-can’t-put-down smile that appears on the face of a person quilting on the longarm for the first time. When it clicks and they realize how much fun they are having. How I love to see that kind of smile!

A new technique!!
Two, in fact! I learned these two new techniques on the embroidery machine today, using designs from Anita Goodesign (hate the name, love the designs). I don’t know yet if this will grow up into a tote bag or a … Continue reading
Like an empty page…
An empty (or almost empty) design wall beckons to the quilter in me in the same way an empty page beckons to the writer in me. I wonder where it will take me!
Fun…but no quilting!
We had a great day today, playing apple cart turnover in our antiques booths. Brought in some wonderful new items, and moved literally everything to make room! But I didn’t get to quilt a stitch! So I’ll be getting after that in the morning!
Color cacophony…
I ended up working on this piece today, rather than the “first formal party” quilt. I was in the mood for a real cacophony of colors — and this batik strip quilt definitely fits that description! It is now ready … Continue reading
One way to get a good night’s sleep
One way to get a good night’s sleep is to go to bed thinking about quilting projects to do tomorrow! What will you be working on tomorrow?
Hand applique…
Being Sunday, of course I’m not in the studio today. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t want to quilt! So while watching (listening to) the races today, I’ve been working on my Vintage Dreams quilt (a block-of-the-month from Common Threads … Continue reading
A little birdie…
This is the first project I stitched out with the wonderful thread windfall I had on Thursday! I am very pleased with the way the thread worked with my machine. What fun!
A colorful surprise…
Yesterday, I received the most colorful gift I have ever received — over 240 spools of beautiful thread for my embroidery machine! A veritable rainbow of colors and hues — and enough to keep me in stitches for a long, … Continue reading
The best medicine…
Laughter and the pursuit of creativity are the two best medicines for anything that ails me. And they are good preventive medicine as well! Spent the evening laughing until the tears flowed, with friends both good and true, and received a windfall gift of beautiful, colorful threads to use on the embroidery machine. To top the day off, I was able to share the joy experienced by a new convert to the art of longarm quilting! It just doesn’t get much better than that!
