Tomorrow, tomorrow!

Tomorrow is a class at Seldom Seen Quilting Studio — which means a room FULL of other quilters with heads full of ideas, tips, tricks, enthusiasm, and experience.  The class is called “the art of free motion quilting” and will be taught by Karen Kelley.  Beautiful quilts have been provided by Laura Nichols of Common Threads Quilting, so the students are all sure to be inspired!

Indulgence…

“Working” at Seldom Seen Quilting Studio is pure indulgence — which is something I’ve never been really good at doing for myself!  I feel like I’m playing hooky from real life, while I sit stitching, designing, visiting with other quilters, and embroidering.  And writing — writing is my other passion, and it’s what got me hooked on quilting in the first place!  What a life!

Our ways and His…

The Bible says God’s ways are as far above our ways as the stars are above the earth.  So far, in fact, that it cannot be comprehended by the mind of man or woman.  Why would the answer to one prayer be yes and the answer to another be no?  Why would there be a flood, a drought, a tornado?  There is no understanding it.  But by faith, we can trust that He does know, does care for us, does listen to our prayers, and does hold us in His hand, turning everything to His purpose, which ultimately is that we become more and more like Jesus.

I have decided it is impossible to visit with another quilter for more than five minutes without learning something!  How much fun is that?  Yesterday, for instance, I learned there is a book by Leah Day with 365 different free-motion quilting patterns, you can use a carpenter’s tape measure to make a snap closure for a quilted handbag, and practicing a pattern on the longarm in “silent” (not sewing) mode helps you relax!
