I was watching a friend quilting on the longarm today — a friend who will have to go nameless until after Christmas to avoid the spoiling of a very good surprise!  She just finished a quilt she said was the best work she’d ever done — but I have to say, she is surpassing even that on this new project!  I will post a pic as soon as I can… so stay tuned.  I think you will be as impressed as I am!

Quilted postcards…

I read an article, sent to me by Robert Baird of Indigent Healthcare Solutions in Conroe, about quilted postcards.  Ever since reading the article, I can’t get the idea out of my head.  I saw a tutorial on YouTube, but it used paper on one side, which doesn’t appeal to me.  I really want to do one on my embroidery machine, with an embroidered message and address on one side and maybe an embroidered photo on the other. But how will I quilt it without interfering with one of those designs?  Have you ever made one? Send me your ideas!

I had the privilege of handing out candy at Boo on the Square today, in front of My Father’s House Antiques, where Seldom Seen Quilting Studio is housed.  I saw dozens of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a handful of Dorothys, countless princesses, and several pirates.  The ones that tugged at my heartstrings, though, were the Super Heroes.  Little boys truly believe it is up to them to save the world, and they are prepared to don whatever super power is necessary to get the job done.  And who knows? Maybe they are right!
