My friend has a wonderful family quilt she is repairing. It is 1930’s fabric, and appears to be a version of a Sunbonnet Sue — but we need help identifying this pattern. It appears to be a PIECED version of Sue — rather than appliqued. All the pieces are made with straight edges as you can see. The triangular flowers are definitely interesting — and more so because they are all in good repair, in spite of being made of red fabric! The hat is made from a wonderful paisley fabric, and blocks are about 8″ finished. What can you tell me about this interesting pattern?
I’ve never seen it but I like it better than the traditional Sunbonnet Sue–it’s not quite so cutesy. Hope you find out more!
I don’t know anything about old quilts, but I absolutely love this Sunbonnet Sue Pattern.
